What is CNC?
Computer Numerical Control is the automated control of machining tools by means of a computer. This provides repeatable accuracy of production parts.
At Artifex Faber, we offer both CNC 3+1 axis milling and 6-8in CNC turning services to our customers, with ISO-based quality control methodology.
CNC MILLING
Part placed on a ‘table’ with x-y movement. Z axis (vertical) is achieved with raising & lowering the spindle. Material removal is achieved by spinning a cutting tool spinning and contacting the part.
CNC TURNING
Part is clamped in a set of balanced jaws to be rotated at speed. Material removal is achieved a static cutting tool being moved radially & longitudinally to contact the part.
QUALITY CONTROL & ASSURANCE
A Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is used to verify the dimensions & tolerances of each part produced. Quality is controlled & monitored using SPC and SQC tools.
